Hillside House
Following the land, rather than flattening it.
01 / The brief
Start with
the place.
A sloping coastal site invited a house with a smaller presence in the landscape. The study begins with the existing contours and asks how each room might meet the ground without treating the hillside as an obstacle.
02 / The response
In the detail,
the whole.
A sequence of low volumes steps with the terrain. Sheltered outdoor rooms sit between them, bringing the view into everyday circulation. The study balances long views with close, protected spaces that can be used when the weather turns.
